Cultus Lake Triathlon 2011
Me at Cultus Lake Triathlon.
I was not sure what to write about so I guess I could start by explaining the reason I started this site. I was constantly looking for races and bookmarking events but I found the entire process to be extremely uncoordinated. Moreover, I could not find a good profile of an event or ratings from the racers. It is my hope that our site can bring the courses and communities to the racers and give them a voice. The feedback can only make the race experience more positive.
Obviously, this is a herculean task; however, there is nothing I enjoy more than getting outside and exploring. This site will be dynamic by its very nature as you will get to follow along with our experiences. Hopefully, we can entice you to try a few of the events that we profile.
Last season was fantastic! It started off with a volunteer session at Mr. T's Turtlehead KOS/Sprint. My wife, step-son, and mother all completed their first triathlons. My wife even fought through a blown rear tire in her first event and crossed the line dead last to realize the finishing is always the goal. I got to compete in a local race at the Kal Rats Sprint Triathlon in Vernon. My wife, mother, and myself followed it up in Invermere at the Heart of the Rockies. Then my wife (in only her 3rd triathlon) completed the Olympic distance event at the Kelowna Apple. Did I mention that she had given birth only 9 months prior to this race! I also got to see my hero Simon Whitfield dominate the competition and cross the line in first. Lastly, I finished the season in Cultus Lake for my Olympic event. Whew...
We would love to hear about some of the great events that you attended recently. Let us know why they were great and what kind of athlete might be attracted to the event.
Until next time...keep tri-ing!
